Senior Hawks lose tough contest in Perth

The Senior Red Hawks got off to a great start vs. the tough Perth Blue Devils in an exciting battle for top spot in the LCIAA standings on Thursday night.

In an uncharacteristic fashion, the Blue Devils turned the ball over numerous times leading to some exciting baskets from the Hawks including some spectacular drive and dish plays from Vince Dufort. PDCI would battle back with some incredible 3-point shooting that would leave the Hawks challenged to defend the perimeter. A big shot from long range from Vince at the buzzer leading into halftime would rejuvenate the Hawks' confidence with a 3-point lead.

The Hawks would lose the discipline battle in the 3rd quarter taking many quick low percentage shots that would give PDCI an opportunity to show their composure with some solid offensive play that would continue to bring the 3-point exhibition. The Hawks would be in a tough hole but would battle back in the 4th quarter with some more characteristic play and tougher defence. Brendan Judd continues to improve scoring some great plays on feeds from Dufort and some individual post play. Jimi Leach helped cut into the lead with two 3-points shots of his own in the 4th.

The packed stands were treated to one of the strongest competitions in recent years at the senior boys level. Two teams that both have won big tournaments and are capable of competing at the provincial level brought a highly entertaining game.
